‘Commencement 2009′, Print Version

November 10th, 2009 by PhilaLawyer

For those who’ve been searching for the “Commencement 2009″ piece, below is a link to the four parts of it, in one continuous PDF file. People seem to really like this thing, so we threw all of the installments into one document, for easier printing and reading.

I’m told this piece circulates a lot. If you know someone who’d like it but can’t access this site at work, print him or her a copy. Or just pass it around the office. Maybe leave it on the water cooler. Management loves people reading this kind of stuff.

    Phila-

This handy PDF would have saved me some copying/pasting when you originally posted this piece! As soon as I was done reading the fourth part, I pasted the whole thing into an email, along with a link to your site, and sent it off to my dad with this comment “Instead of reading Profootballtalk.com while you’re not doing your work, read this instead.”

He loved it and we exchanged several more emails throughout the day about which parts we could relate to the most. The messages in this piece resonate with both a 25 year old just starting out and a 52 year old who has spent his “career” moving from job to job to find one he doesn’t hate quite as much as the last one.

I’ve been reading your site for years now, and of course, I picked your book up as soon as I was able. I’m so glad you are continuing on this new platform.

PL: My best to your old man. Here’s to hoping he finds it. Can I ask a favor? I don’t know how much of a market I have in his age group. If you can, ask him to pass the speech along. Ideally, I’d like it to circulate the same way people passed dirty faxes around in the ’70s.

    Call it a retro phase…

    Fine! I’ll buy the book.

PL: Steal it. And be sure to steal from a B&N, not a Borders. The people at Borders are good folks.
